My windows 7 also gives me that message, after which my windows & tries to connect to my Samsung note as if it was a E: drive. When I first connect my USB cable to my Samsung, I get this message on my Samsung:Īfter about 10 seconds, my Samsung gives me the message Connected as a media device.
When I try to run Test on my PDAnet on my windows 7, I get this ERROR message: However, after about 10 seconds, I get this error message: When I run Test on my PDAnet on my windows 7, I get this good message: I am able to connect to the internet from my PC windows 7. When I plug in my usb wire to my Samsung Note2 running PDAnets Activate USB Tether, it would connect for 10 seconds. I also have latest PdaNet for Android 4.1.2 running on my Windows 7 on my PC. I have the latest version of PDAnet installed on my Samsung Note 2. This is the product webpage I went to (valid as of Jan 29 2013):

If "Other" still doesn't work, try selecting "Samsung" again from the PdaNet wizard, but still install the official drivers that you got from the Samsung website first. The PC software is now finally able to recognize my phone again via USB. When the PdaNet wizard asked me what kind of phone I had, I said "Other" and continued on. I installed it first, then I proceeded with the PdaNet installation.
I went to Samsung's official website and got the driver for the Note 2 (SPH-L900) there. However with my new Note 2, I kept getting stuck at the drivers part during the PC software install! It wouldn't recognize my phone even though I selected Samsung as the phone manufacturer at the beginning of the wizard. I remembered with my old HTC Evo that I was able to just use the PdaNet wizard without downloading additional drivers. I was having driver issues with my Note 2 on Sprint when trying to use PdaNet (via USB) that I solved by using drivers from Samsung's official website.
